Evreux Cathedral

The south rose

The south rose is sometimes called the "Rose of Paradise", dedicated to the Glory of the Virgin Mary, as is so much of the decoration in the church (She is represented over 100 times at Evreux!). At The Coronation she is surrounded by saints and Old Testament personages (including Moses) and surrounded by a crown of cherubims with 6 wings, but most noticeably God the Father, Christ to His right and the dove of the Spirit form a crown, accompanied by Marie Salome and her 2 children and to the left Marie-Cleophas and her 4 sons. Below are St John, St Lorris, St Catherine and St Barnabus.
