Grappenhall, St Wilfred

Glass of c. 1335 in the easternmost window on the S side where some of the eight reset figures originally set as quatrefoils include St Thomas, St John the Baptist, St James with pilgrim’s hat and scallop shell, St Peter and St Bartholomew (here portrayed carrying his own flayed flesh over his arm. In the tracery lights above are an odd small figure pointing skywards, St Philip and St Mary Magdalene. Note the neat roses that accompany many of the figures.
