Long Melford, Holy Trinity , Holy Trinity Excellent glass from the C15

A fine collection of all the surviving original glass collected, restored and reset into the N aisle windows features some thirty-seven C15 figure panels and some tracery lights; each has a modern label, so we can see how the Clopton family and their friends take pride of place as donors. Some good representations here of Sts Gahriel and Raphael (with trumpet and Cross chaplet respectively), Edmund, Andrew and a beautiful Pieta; at the W end are smaller figures of saints and Apostles. Not to be missed is the charming C15 Lily Crucifixion in the E window of the Clopton Chapel where the tiny Crucifixion is painted on to the six-leaf lily, and is set against a deep blue background.
