Wells Cathedral sVII South chapel south window C16 French glass, probably from St John, Rouen. These panels are related to the two panels in the next window (sVI) and belong to a series depicting scenes from the Life of St John. l. to r. 1. This follows from the poisoning scene in sVI: Aristodemus converts and is baptised. 2. St John prays and a statue of Diana falls to the ground 3. St John rewards two disciples for their good works by turning sticks on the ground into gold 4. From a different series? St John (in a walled garden - Paradise?) is given a vision of the seven candlesticks. The figure facing away from the viewer is thought to be after Durer and can be interpreted as the Antichist.
